| Program: Steel Deck Diaphragm Design Methods and Materials By Mark Foreman and Steve Hood This presentation will provide an overview of steel deck diaphragm design as well as: · Deck Attachment Methods · Powder-Actuated Fastening of Steel Deck · Powder-Actuated Fastening Technology · Diaphragm Testing and Approvals · Installation and Inspection · Sidelap Screws and Specialty Fasteners Mark Foreman graduated from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1989 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. For the past 20 years, he has worked for A&E firms in Birmingham, Dallas, and Tulsa serving in various capacities, i.e., structural designer, structural engineer, project manager, and construction inspector. His experience includes fossil fuel power plant precipitators and bag houses as well as designs for the steel mill industry, inlet and outlet exhaust duct systems, and furnace refractory. He has designed and inspected hotel, restaurant, retail and big-box projects. Mark is also an AWS certified welding inspector, a beneficial skill in inspection of structural steel construction. Mark began his career at Hilti in November, 2008 as a Fastening and Protection Engineer. In this capacity, he serves as Field Engineer for Oklahoma, Arkansas and Southwest Missouri. Steve Hood started with Hilti in March 1992 in Customer Service. He moved to Dallas in November 1994 and worked there as an Account Manager until 2000. Steve moved back to Tulsa as a Product Support team specialist for 3 years, moved to Illinois as an Account Manager in 2003, and then moved back to Oklahoma as an Account Manager in 2005. His responsibilities have consistently been with the steel and metal group during his entire tenure with Hilti.
